Importing Database from FontExpert version 9.0 or 10.0 to 11.0

Contents

NOTE:
You only need importing database from version 9.0 or 10.0 to 11.0 if you used FontExpert of earlier version 9.0 to assign tags to fonts (keywords, categories, ratings, captions) and want to export these tags to new version 11.0.

To import database, copy FontExpert.db file from version 9.0 or 10.0 to version 11.0.

1. In FontExpert 2011 choose Tools/Options... menu command, see "General" section, "FontExpert application data folder:".

Press Go to folder button.

FontExpert will open Windows Explorer window in the "...\FontExpert\11.0\" folder where version 11.0 database is located.

Windiws 7, Windows Vista: By default, this folder is located within "c:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\..." path.
Windows XP: By default, this folder is located within "c:\Documents and Settings\<User name>\Application Data\..." path.

Application data folders are hidden folders and displayed in Windows Explorer when the option to display hidden folders and files is selected.

2. Exit from FontExpert 2011.

3. Rename "...FontExpert\11.0\FontExpert.db" file to, for example, "FontExpert.db.ver11.old".

4. Go to the neighboring "...\FontExpert\9.0\", copy FontExpert.db file of version 9.0, and paste it to the "...\FontExpert\11.0\" folder.

5. Run FontExpert 2011.

On start up FontExpert will detect older database and will suggest converting database to new format(usually it takes few seconds).
