Restore default config for Font Expert

Post by Isabelle »

I moved my Windows Fonts view window and now I cannot dock it and cannot get the original configuration for the main window back. Ditto with the Font Face window.

How can I get the windows to dock where I want them? Now they appear as floating windows and have to be closed before I can minimize the main window.

This is great software--have been looking forever for something like this and am planning to purchase if I can configure it properly.

Thanks for your help.!

There is no button to reset the positions of docked windows,
but you can reset bars to default positions using the following utility (131 Kb):

Reset Control Bar Positions Utility - FontExpertResetBarPositions7.zip

Or you can reset dockable bar positions manually by editing the registry (for advanced users).

1. Close FontExpert.
2. Run Registry Editor (Start, Run..., regedit.exe)
3. Open registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Proxima Software\FontExpert\

and delete all CommandBars*** and DockingPaneLayouts subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Proxima Software\FontExpert\CommandBars
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Proxima Software\FontExpert\CommandBars-Bar1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Proxima Software\FontExpert\CommandBars-Bar2

etc.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Proxima Software\FontExpert\DockingPaneLayouts
etc.

4. Run FontExpert again. FontExpert will assign default positions to all command bars.

Thanks very much. I was able to get what I wanted without resorting to the registry changes, but have saved that info for future reference.

I love this software and thank you for it. I purchased it.

Thanks again. Cheers.
