Not existing Arabian glyphs in unicode fonts

Post by Ctrl »

I don’t know why nobody asks this question. FontExpert shows that some unicode fonts have Unicode subranges that actually don't exist in the font. For example, it displays Arabic subrange in Lucida font, while Microsoft Character Map shows that there is no Arabic subrange in this font.

Then I installed FontExpert in clean system and found out that the problem in FontExpert arises when I switch on
“Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages” in Regional and Language Options, Languages.
Have you any suggestions?
Thanks

We reproduced the problem:

1. Arabian glyphs are displayed in Character Table view for
Lucida Console font (while this font doesn't contain Arabic symbols).
2. To reproduce the problem, the following option must be set:
[x] Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)

(Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Languages tab.)

Applied to: Windows XP.

This problem will be fixed in the following versions of FontExpert.
