list of "new fonts"

Postby Alex » Thu Oct 19, 2006 11:58 pm

Let say I download a batch of "handwritting" fonts on a website, I'll add them to FE and, obviously, add them to my "handwriting" group.

To my knowledge, there isn't any way to do it automatically. Once the fonts are imported in FE, they are sorted by name. If I downloaded 20 fonts in that pack, I'll need to find them manually in the list and add them to the group.

If there was a way to see a list of all the fonts added in the last x hours, 1 day, or whatever, then we could see all the recently added fonts in a list and place them in groups all at once ...

Of course, it is possible to do that if I coupy the files both in my main font directory and in my group directory, but I'd rather use the 'shortcuts' to populate the groups ...

I need some explanation. When you download fonts you usually save downloaded fonts to some local folder. Do you mean FE should keep history for this folder so you can find new fonts appeared in this list?

Or do you mean you usually install new fonts immediately, fonts appear in the Windows Fonts list (sorted alphabetically) and FE should keep history for Windows Fonts list so it should be possible to detect which fonts were installed within last 24 hours or last 3 days?

when I said "installed" I meant 'saved on my PC'.

I do this in iTunes. I add all my new MP3 to a folder, have itunes import them. Then, I go to a "added in the last 24hrs" playlist, and tag all my new MP3s. I don't have to manually find by name all the new album in the list to tag them ..

Something similar should be possible in FE. Currently, the only way to 'tag' new fonts is to find them manually in the list of all the fonts. Select them all one by one, find all the checkmarked fonts, and put a shortcut to those in a group ... it can be quite long if I donwload a pack of 300 handwriting fonts for instance.

If there is a list of all the new fonts (via the search or whatever), we could select the 300 fonts at once and put them in the proper group ...
